Vancouver’s film and television industry is being taken to the next level today. Finalé Post Production and Technicolor Creative Services have entered into a strategic partnership to provide Technicolor “Color Certified” Digital Intermediate (DI) Finishing services in Vancouver.

Finalé Post Production will acquire and integrate Technicolor Vancouver’s existing DI Theatre into their newly expanded facility. The transaction includes exclusive certification for Technicolor’s leading color science, as well as ongoing servicing of its film, television and commercial projects finishing in Vancouver.

Finalé’s Editworks division will be re-launching a new Technicolor Color Certified DI Theatre in June 2012. The theatre will feature both Autodesk Lustre and Davinci Resolve grading systems, “Real-D” Stereoscopic 3D, and full access to Technicolor DI services including Digital Cinema Package (DCP) and film outs.

The company's aim is to combine their creative talent, technical resources and experience in order to deliver the highest quality post-production services available to the Vancouver market.

“With Technicolor’s Vancouver facility now moving to the studios to concentrate on digital dailies, we saw an opportunity to work with them to support finishing services in Vancouver through Technicolor’s DI Color Certification” said Don Thompson, President and Founder of Finalé Post Production.

“With over two decades of experience working within the Vancouver film and television community, we have established a strong reputation for our integrated approach to Editorial, Finishing and Delivery. This partnership now allows us to leverage Technicolor’s expertise in Color Management and DI workflows to offer world class services to our clients, but with the creative innovation and flexible pricing that we’re known for.”

In addition, Finalé Editworks has announced the hiring of key creative staff for its DI team:

• Senior Colorists Claudio Sepulveda and Thor Roos
• DI Manager/Editor James Cowan
• Post Producer Jonas Young

“We’re excited for this new venture,” says Thompson, “Finalé is reinforcing our commitment to the Vancouver market with this significant investment. We want to recognize the growth and loyalty of our clients as their level of production has expanded, and now welcome the opportunity to extend these services to the wide array of studio clients working in Vancouver.”

Finalé Editworks recently finished DVD production of the Vancouver Canucks "Forever Faithful - The Canucks Movie". This compelling 90 minute feature gets into the heart of the truly die-hard hockey fan ... taking us through their ups and downs. The collectors DVD is being sold throughout B.C. at all Save on Foods locations.

"We were lucky to work closely with the Canucks on this project" said Finalé's Dave Rice. "There were many elements that went into making this project a reality - from special prize tickets and catalog inserts, to getting the team colors perfect, and finally delivering the finished product on time for Christmas."

The Canucks DVD demanded a perfect combination of production and coordination in order to meet all of the team's tight deadlines. Rice says "we are all very proud of the end result and take great pleasure in working so close with the team to ensure their fans' expectations were met."

The incredibly tight deadlines of shooting and finishing a short film in 8 days with $800, provided a challenge to Finalé's editorial and finishing departments, as they worked with the teams including Writer/Director Rob Kirbyson's "Nobody Special" and Producer Stephanie Tanner and Writer/Director Jeffrey Hornung's film "Verna". Finalé also supported Crazy 8 Founder Andrew Williamson's opening short "The Green Film".
