INTERLACE (SCAN)
Method of scanning lines down a screen - as used in television broadcasts. Each display picture comprises two interlaced fields. The technique improves the portrayal of motion and reduces flicker without having to increase the frame rate. Disadvantages are reduced vertical definition and dithering.
INSERT EDIT
Electronic edit in which the control track is not replaced during the editing process. The method of electronic editing in which a new segment is inserted into program material already recorded on the videotape.
